  • HEKS/EPER Regional Meeting in Kosovo

    Between 3-8 November 2022, staff members of programmes and projects in Kosovo, Romania, Serbia, Hungary, Israel/Palestine and Switzerland participated in the HEKS/EPER Regional Meeting in Pristina, Kosovo.

    It was the first physical meeting since the re-organisation and establishment of the new regional team.

    The scope of the meeting was to exchange experiences and to learn from each other. The thematic focus areas of this regional meeting were non-discrimination & antigypsyism, inclusive employment, as well as women empowerment and gender equality. 

    The Regional Meeting aimed that the participants:

    • Learn and exchange their experience;
    • Increase their knowledge and get new inputs about overcoming discrimination / antigypsyism and have reflected on how to address non-discrimination and antigypsyism in their own programme/project;
    • Familiarize with applied approaches to promote inclusive employment including the transition from education to employment and get inspiration for your own project/programme;
    • Exchange about women empowerment and learn about ongoing organizational processes related to gender equality and prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment within HEKS/EPER and partner organizations;
    • Know the HEKS/EPER projects in Kosovo;
    • Learn about and link to European Regional Perspectives on combatting antigypsyism;
    • Explore the potential for cooperation, mutual learning and development within the new regional team;
    • Return home with new inspiration, motivation, and ideas.

    Among the most appreciated activities during that week were:

    Organizers: The organization “Voice of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians” in cooperation with partner organizations “Terre des hommes” and the “HEKS” Foundation

    The primary purpose of “Let’s Talk” is to serve as a platform where powerful voices and stories will be shared aiming to bring attention and awareness to the audience on racial discrimination, economic challenges, hate language, stigmatization and marginalization, justice/needs to empower women’s voices.

    Presenters: S. Matt Cambery – writer; Mrs. Hope Meta – Entrepreneur; Mrs. Senada Sali -Advocate.

    • The marketplaces on antigypsyism and non-discrimination, on women empowerment and gender quality
    • The field visits on employment and women empowerment to Gjakova, Prizren and Priluzje
    • The Summit on the Western Balkans Against Racial Discrimination, who took place in Pristina.

    The Regional Summit was organized under the leadership of the Office of the Prime Minister – the Republic of Kosovo with the support of Terre des hommes Mission in Kosovo, the Voice of Roma, Askhali and Egyptians and the HEKS/EPER Foundation within the project Social Justice for Roma, Askhali and Egyptians funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
