In the context of a long-running military conflict in Ukraine and the refugee crisis triggered by it, this project addressed Ukrainian refugees who have opted for a prolonged stay in north-western Romania and who have faced challenges when government support systems proved to be insufficient in relation to their increased needs. The project focused on providing material aid, psychological support, access to health services and facilitating the reunification of Ukrainian families.
To prevent conflict in the Ukrainian community and to help the most vulnerable refugees, clear criteria were set for the selection of beneficiaries: single mothers or fathers travelling with at least two children, people with disabilities or chronic illnesses and people over 70. This project has been an essential support for Ukrainian refugees in the region, with a proven positive impact at a key time for the Ukrainian refugee crisis.
