Scaling Up Humanitarian Assistance in Eastern DRC with DG ECHO Support

HEKS/EPER continues to expand its humanitarian response in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, providing critical support to communities affected by ongoing armed conflict.

Since August 2025, our teams have been delivering multisectoral assistance to internally displaced people, returnees, and vulnerable host communities across North Kivu, South Kivu, and Maniema, with the support of DG ECHO.

We are pleased to announce that this project has been extended by eight months and will now run until 31 December 2026, bringing the total duration to 17 months. This extension is made possible through additional funding from DG ECHO and allows us to significantly scale up our response.

Through this continued support, HEKS/EPER is able to expand access to hard-to-reach areas and strengthen its operational presence:

✅ Humanitarian access has increased from 13 to 21 emergency infrastructure interventions, opening corridors into remote and underserved zones
✅ Multisectoral cash assistance has expanded from 21,780 to 37,420 households
✅ Activities in the Itombwe highlands in South Kivu have been reinforced, including the rehabilitation of the Mikenge base and the establishment of a new sub-base in Kipupu
✅ Emergency response operations continue in North Kivu through our bases in Mweso, Katwe, and Pinga

Operating in increasingly volatile and complex environments, HEKS/EPER remains committed to staying close to the communities most in need. This extended partnership with DG ECHO enables us to maintain and expand life-saving assistance where access is most challenging.
