On Thursday, 22.06.2023, the dissemination of the “Practices on the ground!” project took place at Cluj Hub, in the Green Hall.
The implementation team presented the activities, their results, the perspectives of farmers, municipalities, and relevant institutions on the issue of sustainable soil management as they emerged from the questionnaires and activities carried out with them, good practices for farmers regarding soil testing but also the next plans regarding the activities of communicating the results to the institutional actors at the central level.
In particular, the interest of those in the room, as it emerged from the questions asked, was related to the process of testing and interpreting soil analyses, the correlation between healthy food and healthy soil, but also regarding ecological agriculture. Thus, following the four presentations given by the experts from the project, a lively debate developed on how each of us can test the soil, what are the limits but also the advantages of such an activity, what can we learn from a better knowledge and a frequent testing of the soil but also what are the means of information to help us determine the best soil treatments.
Among the guests were representatives of the Environmental Guard, the County Agricultural Directorate, the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, the Faculty of Geography and the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Business Management within UBB, Non-Governmental Organizations active in the rural development sector and also agricultural high schools active in the project.
For the HEKS/EPER Romania Foundation and the partner, FAER Foundation, the conference represents an important milestone both in the progress of the project “Practices on the ground!” as well as in the development of the team’s expertise in the field of agroecology and implicitly sustainable development. Thus, the activity of the two entities developed, addressing community development issues from a holistic perspective: social, economic, environmental, and political.
The project is carried out by the HEKS/EPER Romania Foundation and the FAER Foundation and benefits from funding in the amount of 195,778.04 euros, through the Active Citizen Fund Romania program, financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants 2014-2021.
