  • HEKS/EPER Romania at the DG ECHO Partners’ Dialogue 2026

On 15 June 2026, our delegation had the privilege of participating in the DG ECHO Partners’ Dialogue 2026, held in Brussels.

As Romania’s first ECHO-certified NGO and direct funding recipient from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (DG ECHO), our presence at this dialogue carries a special significance, not just for our organisation, but for the entire Romanian humanitarian sector.

The event brought together ECHO’s humanitarian partners from across Europe to discuss key strategic priorities under the Joint Humanitarian Aid Communication, structured around three core pillars:

    •  Protect – Strengthening humanitarian diplomacy, defending international humanitarian law, and safeguarding principled humanitarian space.
    • Perform – Unlocking the full potential of cash assistance and improving the efficiency of humanitarian response.
    • Partner – Building meaningful partnerships in fragile contexts, from risk to resilience.

The day also featured opening remarks by Commissioner Lahbib, a presentation of the DG ECHO Rolling Plan on Simplification, and a direct Q&A with DG ECHO Director-General and Directors.

Being part of this dialogue reaffirms our commitment to principled, effective, and people-centred humanitarian action, and our responsibility to represent local implementation voices at the highest European level.
