In the framework of the project funded by Swiss Solidarity and implemented by HEKS/EPER Foundation in the Chernivtsi region, in collaboration with AREAC (The Regional Association for Adult Education Chernivtsi), part of the implementation team from Cluj-Napoca carried out a field visit, between 25-27 March 2024.
The project in question aims to provide sclr micro-grants to local initiative groups consisting of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and members of the local community in the region. Following the call for proposals announced in February 2024, 64 project applications were submitted for funding. Of these, 30 initiatives were selected for implementation, according to the allocated budget and the initially agreed selection criteria, by a committee made up of both members of the organisations involved in the implementation and independent members of the target group.
During this visit, we had the opportunity to fine-tune the administrative details essential for the smooth implementation of the project, regarding both operational and financial aspects.
We also had the opportunity to visit two of the locations where sclr activities will take place in the city of Chernivtsi. The first one aims to create a playroom for children in a collective centre where IDPs live, and the second one focuses on training women (relocated to the Chernivtsi region from conflict areas) in the culinary arts through a cooking course taught by an expert in the field, to increase employment opportunities.
We are excited about the prospects of this project and together with our local partner AREAC we are working together towards facilitating the successful implementation of this first round of sclr micro-grants!
