Press release Students continue the project “Through Education to Vocation!” The educational and social services of the Association “Orthodox Philanthropy Alba Iulia” support children in pandemic conditions

During the extended vacation, 456 students from Alba County continued to be helped through the Project “Through Education to Vocation!”. The educators kept in touch with the children, organizing common and private online remedial and recreational activities. All children who did not have access to the Internet received regular visits from the educators, who sent them or took over the worksheets adapted to each student. To these children are added hundreds of other students who attended day care centers in the county or who were protected in family-type homes.

“Despite all the restrictions necessary for this period, children need continuity in education, they need much more care and love from family and educators. In this sense, it is necessary to find new, adapted solutions to be by their side in the worries and difficulties that are added daily on their frail shoulders. In the 51 educational and social centers of the Orthodox Archdiocese of Alba Iulia, during this period, the attention and care for the over 1000 protected children increased a lot “- said Daniela Truța – executive director of the Association” Orthodox Philanthropy Alba Iulia “.

During this period, a new stage in the professional training of the educators from the Project “Through Education to Vocation!” was completed. Under the coordination of the specialists of the Newschool organization from Norway, methods of remedial and vocational education of children in difficulty were mastered and experimented, which achieved spectacular results in the Norwegian education system. The aim of the course was to qualitatively increase both the didactic act and the formative-educational approaches, to enable teachers to mediate processes of personal improvement in students, to efficiently lead learning processes from themselves to others.

“The courses included structured interactions in the large group of teachers, small group work tasks and individual tasks, were explored educational techniques specific to the Norwegian model, applicable in the Romanian school, and experiential ways of learning for personal development and group cohesion Professors. The participants had the opportunity to explore together, guided by trainers, how they can facilitate creative exercises that increase motivation and inspire children’s creativity “- said psychologist Nicoleta Presecan, training manager.

The project “Education towards vocation!” is implemented by the “Alba Iullia Orthodox Philanthropy” Association in partnership with HEKS / EPER Romania Foundation, FAER Reghin Foundation and NEWschool Norway, within a grant through Norwegian Grants within the Local Development Program. The objective of the project is to increase the degree of social inclusion and maintain in the education system 645 students in risk situations in the Central and North-West regions by creating activities such as “School after school”. Program operator being the Romanian Social Development Fund. The implementation period of the project is 24 months and has a total value of 524,499 lei, of which 708,073 is a private contribution.

In Alba County, within the Project “Through Education to Vocation” are organized 17 classes of type “School after school” in collaboration with: Gymnasium School “Ioan de Hunedoara” Sântimbru Sat, Gymnasium School “Ioan de Hunedoara” Sântimbru Factory, Gymnasium School „Mihai Eminescu” Ighiu, „Mihai Eminescu” Gymnasium School Țelna, „Mihai Eminescu” Șard Gymnasium School, „Florin Fleșeriu” High School with Sports Program Sebeș, „Demetriu Radu” Gymnasium School Rădești, Berghin Gymnasium School, I-VIII Miraslău, „Singidava” Cugir Gymnasium School, „Axente Sever” Aiud Gymnasium School, „Cuvioasa Parascheva” Children’s Day Center Alba Iulia and „Sf. Nicolae ”Alba Iulia.
