In 2023, the Romanian state’s strategy was to encourage Ukrainians to become more self-reliant and take responsibility for their own needs. In this respect, the implementation of the sclr programme has been very appropriate and timely, acting as a catalyst in empowering Ukrainian communities in Romania. This approach stimulates crisis survivors to use their creativity and provides resources for them to succeed in serving their local community through various initiatives based on the needs they identify.
Through this project, HEKS/EPER has funded 27 sclr grants, leaving behind tangible improvements at the local level. The project contributed to the social development and inclusion of Ukrainians in Romania and highlighted the importance of empowering communities and promoting sustainability of humanitarian efforts.
