As of the 1st of March 2022, HEKS/EPER Romania has developed multiple humanitarian actions in response to the war crisis in Ukraine. With the financial support of donors and the direct help of local partners, the organisation has been able to support tens of thousands of refugees from the north-west and north-east of Romania and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Transcarpathia and Chernivtsi. These people have received one or more of the following forms of aid: financial support, basic food and non-food items, shelter, medical and psychological support, information and transport services, educational and recreational services for children, etc.
In 2024, our projects are particularly focused on empowering local initiative groups by providing sclr micro-grants (community-led crisis responses) in Western Ukraine (Chernivtsi and Transcarpathian regions), respectively on facilitating the labour market insertion of Ukrainians in Romania (Cluj-Napoca).
